Samuel Dixon was born in Wichita Fall, Texas. He spent his childhood in New York and New Jersey, and studied art in Maryland. His talent was visible early on and as a young teenager, he began studying under such well-known artists as Michael Carr and Joe Mayer.
His paintings are in many private collections in the United States and abroad. Dixon’s artworks often focus on shapes and abstractions through a gesture approach. Dixon, primarily a watercolorist, also works in oil and acrylics, is described as an American Abstract Impressionist. Influenced by paintings of Whistler and the impressionists, Sam’s work captures the essence of inspiration and temperament. His home and studio are located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
