Biography
Christine Lashley's love for light shows in her award-winning work: swirling water, exuberant florals, dramatic landscapes, and striking portraits. With bold color, Christine paints the immmediacy of the moment in oil or watercolor, rendering her images with wet-on-wet painting techniques and flickering brushstrokes. Although realism is important in her work, the mood and atmosphere in a piece is essential. Often Christine will work "en plein air", capturing a strong sense of place.
Christine's paintings have been shown in solo and group shows in many areas of the country and continue to win top awards. Her work has caught the eye of jurors such as Stephen Bennett Phillips, Curator for The Phillips Collection and Mark A. Leithauser, Senior Curator and Chief of Design for the National Gallery of Art. With numerous works in private and corporate collections, her work has also been published in: American Artist Magazine, Elan Magazine, and The Washington Post.
Christine is a signature member of several juried groups including the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She has taught art lessons for over 10 years.
