The Right Artwork Can Transform Any Space

For the past forty years, we’ve had the opportunity to watch art transform any space. From condos to hotels, restaurants, and office buildings, we’ve installed every type of art in just about every residential and commercial space you can imagine. In one of our recent projects, we installed art for the lobby, conference rooms, and mailroom of a condominium unit located in Washington, DC. The client was looking for high quality artwork that consisted of vintage posters, and decided to go with a variety of art-deco style artwork from the late 1800s to the 1960s, featuring poster designers Leonetto Cappiello, Bernard Villemont, and others.

We thought the transformation was interesting enough to share with our readers. Our client was able to put together unique vintage designs, showcasing a variety of artists.

Here are just a few pieces from the installation:

The designers chose this vintage Meuse Pils poster, created by Bernard Villemont in the 1960s. Fun fact: Meus Pils is the most popular beer in Belgium. The name Pils comes from the town of Pilsen in Bohemia where this type of beer was born in 1842. The beer advertised on the poster is available in family size bottles as told by the caption.

Les Couronnes is a vintage poster created by Leonetto Cappiello in 1924. Cappiello was an Italian and French poster art designer and painter, often called ‘the father of modern advertising’ because of his innovation in poster design.

This poster from The Pocket Magazine, was an American literary magazine published by Frederick A. Stokes Company in New York in the 1900s and produced work from masters such as Arthur Conan Doyle and Max Pemberton.

The Black Cat Magazine was an American literary magazine published in Boston, Massachusetts in the late 1800s, specializing in unusual stories. This antique cover is from the December 1890 issue.

The end result ended up being an eclectic addition to the blank spaces of the condo unit with a group of images from a variety of different artists.

We also transformed the mailroom of this development with the same style of art-deco style vintage posters that were used in the conference room. Take a look at the team at work, and the beautiful end result!
