Summer Spotlight: Flourish and Flow

Flourish and Flow, the first of our Summer Spotlight series will soon be heading over to our Alexandria gallery. Local artist, Tricia Ratliff, stocked the show with a variety of pieces from her diverse body of work. From fantastical landscapes and local gems to delicious still lifes, Tricia’s jewel-like color palettes and soft plays of light bring her subject matter to life on the canvas.

Starting June 5th, stop by Broadway Gallery in Alexandria to see pieces like Delights, a study of breakfast treats with a soothing air. The bright reds and blues of the berries jump off the scene while the glossy chocolate covered pastry rests under a glass dome bathed in soft light. Framed in champagne and linen to reflect the calm nature of the subject, this small but lovely piece is sure to draw the eye.

Flowing With Life’s Adventures is one of the largest pieces on display with Flourish and Flow. Intended as a “spiritual reminder about embracing the moments of life we’ve been gifted and the adventure all around us,” this energetic waterfall scene features beautiful color shifts as warm light highlights the scene. The whole piece draws you in with its layered landscape and glowing ambiance.

Tricia aims to “soak up the local environment by looking, listening, learning and sharing stories” and she achieves that goal in this show with works picturing or inspired by her travels. Flourish and Flow includes landscapes from as far as Spain to the not-so-far forests of Shenandoah. Each work is meant to “inspire energy, curiosity and wellbeing to thrive in the spaces and moments that matter most to you.” Come explore Tricia’s stories and visions and discover how each piece inspires you.
