Christine Lashley’s art is about the beauty of a moment held in memory. She works to push beyond the literal ‘copying’ of a scene, and portray the essence of what she experienced. Her travels and love of nature inform her paintings with a focus on light patterns and color. Both reality and the abstract are infused into her artwork, using color and texture to look ‘real’ from afar but dissolve into abstraction up close.
Christine’s paintings have been exhibited widely at museums, juried shows, and curated invitationals. She has won numerous awards including the First Place at Telluride Plein Air (2019), Best Light in the Landscape Award at Olmsted Plein Air Invitational (2018), Quick Draw First Place at both Richmond Plein Air and Bucks County Plein Air (2017), and Best Landscape Award at the 27th Oil Painters of America National Show (2018). Her work has been published in North Light Books, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, and Plein Air Magazine (Oct/Nov 2018 cover).
